Tehran Symphony Orchestra's Thursday night (23 January) performance was controversial as guest conductor Manuchehr Sahbai delivered a speech before the audience against Shardad Rohani, the orchestra's principal conductor in the Vahdat Hall, formerly the Roudaki Hall in Tehran. His controversial speech angered some of the musicians who rejected Sahbai's claims, causing the audience to react, some in favour and some against. TSO's musicians decided to perform songs without the conductor. The controversial performance was unprecedented in TSO's history.
